My thoughts about New York
Compared to other states in the USA, New York appears much livelier and youthful. I couldn't grasp how time passes there. It has a very vibrant and bustling atmosphere. The buildings are very tall, and you never feel lost. If you're young try to live at New York.
Times Square
We traveled from California's Palm Springs to New York via Chicago Airport. At Chicago Airport, we continued our journey by marveling at the large dinosaur bones. Upon arriving at New York Airport, we took an Uber taxi to our hotel. As we rode in the taxi, I was delighted when I turned my face to the right and saw the unique skyline of Manhattan. Our hotel was in Times Square, and when we stepped outside, we were immediately greeted by the iconic building with its slender, hollow interior. We had chosen a fantastic hotel. At night, I didn't want to go back to the hotel at all because the large screens in Times Square draw you in, and you don't want to leave.
Manhattan
I actually prefer exploring historical sites rather than tall buildings, but Manhattan is different from them because it has the tallest buildings you could find on an island. You've probably never seen a place like it before. Inside those tall buildings, you feel very small and enjoy wandering around in the crowds. The only thing that bothered me was constantly smelling marijuana. People don't smoke cigarettes, but there are many people smoking marijuana. For someone living in Turkey, this is really strange. I learned what this strong smell was like on the streets of Manhattan.
Liberty of Statue
I had seen the Statue of Liberty many times in movies, but I saw it with my own eyes for the first time. I particularly remember in the movie Titanic, when people saw this statue after being rescued, they realized they had reached a safe harbor. America is truly the land of freedoms. Living in such a fair country must be a pleasurable experience. The Statue of Liberty suits this country very well. I don't know what color it was when it was first built, but I think the green color on it is due to oxidation. However, I believe this has made the statue even more beautiful.
Central Park
Central Park feels like an oasis trapped within a big city, offering the most beautiful escape from stress. There are various sculptures here, and everything is green. I had thought the lake inside was small, but when I saw how large it actually was, I was very surprised. Walking here on a hot day, enjoying ice cream, and listening to the beautiful sounds of nature is a wonderful experience.
Memorial 9/11
I was a little kid, lying in my sickbed amidst fevers. In the evenings, my father used to watch the news, and I would glance at it from time to time. I thought the planes crashing into the Twin Towers were some kind of movie until I noticed my father's astonishment, realizing that these images were real. I sat up carefully from my sickbed and started watching attentively. I condemn the terrorist organization's attack. My condolences go out to the families of the 2977 people who lost their lives in this attack. It's a very sad situation. Now, there are two massive memorials where they worked and lived. The fallen tears seem to fill these pools.
Brooklyn Bridge
An old bridge connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn. It looks beautiful both day and night. I stood across from it and watched for a long time. The sounds of cars passing over it and the reflections from the sea looked wonderful.
St. Patric's Cathedral
While heading back to the hotel at night amidst the towering skyscrapers, I stumbled upon this structure by chance. It's clearly a beautiful cathedral for Manhattan. I always make it a point to visit a cathedral whenever I travel to a new country. I'm quite fond of these buildings. St. Patrick's Cathedral was another structure I discovered at night. Visiting it during the day was my first order of business, and I did. The interior was quite large and enchanting.
F.R.I.E.N.D.S
F.R.I.E.N.D.S is an amazing series that I discovered very late. I started watching it when I was 32 years old, but it had already started filming almost when I was born. Chandler's death saddened me a lot. He was like the main character for me. I also love the funny antics of Ross and Joey. Monica is a very beautiful woman. Phoebe was also a very natural character. It has become one of my favorite series. So, coming here and having a coffee made me happy. I made sure not to forget to get one of those large coffee cups.
The Flatiron Building
The Flatiron Building used to be the tallest building in Manhattan at one point. It got its name 'flatiron' from the English due to its resemblance to a flatiron when viewed from the top. When I visited, there was restoration going on, but it still didn't fail to offer me some beautiful photo opportunities. Additionally, the nearby building, which resembles a clock tower, is also very charming.
Public Library
The Public Library was just a building I passed by; I couldn't go inside because my friends were waiting for me, and I was spending time looking at every beautiful building I saw. I didn't want to keep them waiting any longer.
Grand Central Terminal
I went to Grand Central Terminal for the first time at 2 am, but it was closed. The next day, while walking down the street, two young people offered me a slice of their XXXL-sized pizza. I accepted their kind invitation. However, it was a greasy pizza, and my hands got oily. Later on, the nearest place I could go to was the Terminal. But I wasn't sure if it was still closed, but I still wanted to go. This time, when I went, it was completely open, and people were trying to catch trains for their travels. The size of the interior was very impressive. There was a large American flag, and the shades of yellow were very pleasing to me.
Rockefeller Building
The Rockefeller family is often portrayed by conspiracy theorists as the family that controls the world. This has always seemed funny to me. I know that anyone who holds money can easily influence others, but this applies to all the wealthy. Since one of the best places to view the Manhattan skyline is the Rockefeller Building, I took the elevator to the top and took some beautiful photographs. Additionally, you may know of an old photograph where fearless construction workers sit on a steel beam and smoke a cigarette; that popular photograph was taken during the construction of this building. This point was my last stop on the trip.
